The Indian National Congress held its fifth session at Bombay in December 1889 under Sir William Wedderburn and established a British Committee in London to lobby British opinion and Parliament. Women delegates took part in a Congress session for the first time. Jawaharlal Nehru was born at Allahabad on 14 November 1889.
